Tire-Free River Poetry
I talk about tires all the time,
folks say I'm a crashing bore.
Little do they know that I'm
a voracious rubbervore.
I prowl the shallows and the banks
up and down the shore.
I have no need of praise or thanks,
nor fame « for evermore. »
I rid the waters of the tires
thrown in by folks long gone.
It's hard to say just what inspires
me to carry on.
I only know that I won't rest
until the last and lonely tire
no longer lingers to infest
the beautiful Saint John River.
